I have a secret

Coming out about our lifestyle is not all that easy.  Primarily because not everyone understands it.  Perception of the lifestyle is not accurate and assumptions are made. It is the misunderstanding that we would fuck anyone. That is just not the case.

Our first full day we meet lots of people. Thanks to Mellisa’s bubbly personality we had a large group at the pool bar by end of day. We mentioned cards against humanity might be played that night and few couples said they would stop by. Great game as an ice breaker plus it is a lot of fun to play. 

The evening progressed and we ended up being near the pool since it was not as hot as the lobby was.  We had a great time, laughing and playing the game. Coming back from the bathroom later in the evening I hear that someone asked about the lifestyle and that we confirmed that we were swingers and then some.

This then became a discussion about the lifestyle. The one thing that seems to be common is that when a vanilla couple hears we swing they almost always say “we are not into it”.  We really don’t expect anyone is. We do appreciate that they understand and respect it.  It is the reaction that still surprises me that they just assume we might be interested in them in a sexual way.

Over the rest of the week more people found out and it was so nice to be accepted and not judged because of it. Even had one couple’s wife wanting to meet the quad and learn more about it.  Everyone we have talked to has been open and understanding.  Plus we can behave and enjoy ourselves instead of tyring to hide it.  Then again we are in Cuba so we have not really hidden much.

Actually my best story about it was the bartender at the pool later in the week. There was Lexxi, Krystalla, and Mellisa at the pool. Lexxi and Krystalla went off to shop so me and Melissa stayed and drank some more at the bar. She then had to pee so off she went. The bartender came over and asked something in Spanish. I said I didn’t understand and he said “wife” and pointed to Mellisa’s seat. I shook my head and said no my wife went off shopping and pointed to the lobby. Then said good friend and pointed to her seat. He had a big smile and laughed, patted me on the shoulder few times and asked if I wanted another beer.  Yes as I smiled to myself. Even with limited English you can still communicate pretty clearly.

No judgement. That has been the main reaction to our lifestyle with the people we have met. It is refreshing since these people are ones we have barely met. If only some of our friends could have the same thoughts.  As it stands we will tell you if you ask.  For those that don’t know, I doubt they will so for now we don’t have to cross that bridge.

We made some great new friends and hopefully we can stay in touch with them over the coming months.
